Reishauer AG - Planning and construction of a thoughtfully structured multipurpose building

The Project in Detail

With the start of the planning and execution of a completely new factory from scratch, Reishauer AG embarked on a new chapter in its success story in 2014. The ambitious building project, structured in three phases, positions the company, which specialises in the development and manufacturing of systems for the hard-finishing of gears, for the future, and affirms its claim to global market leadership. The construction of a new production building, planned and realised by IE Technology, was followed by the second phase: the construction of a multi-purpose building, a project that the client likewise entrusted to the planners at IE Technology. The start of construction for the third phase, a multifunctional assembly hall, is planned for 2027.

The Challenge

The task of the planners was to merge function and aesthetics into a coherent whole. The uses include offices for the board of directors, the executive and divisional management, customer service, sales and administration. On the ground floor, areas such as the measuring room, the development department, prototype construction, the spindle competence centre, the showroom and logistics were to be accommodated. Particular attention was paid to the meeting spaces also located in this building. These include meeting alcoves, tea kitchens, conference rooms, the reception and further visitor zones. It was a central concern of the client to create an atmosphere of wellbeing throughout the entire building. The carefully designed fit-out was to reflect the core values of Reishauer AG: precision, innovation and permanence.

The Success Factors

Based on the organisational processes and the requirements from the areas of board of directors and executive management, engineering, quality control and administration, IE Technology planned a five-storey building on a generous basement level, which functions as an underground car park, storage area and building services centre. A well-conceived occupancy plan ensured a logical allocation of functions. The interior architecture, meeting the high aesthetic requirements of the client, and the use of selected materials lend the building its desired refined character. A strictly implemented security concept regulates access and ensures the confidentiality of client projects. On the technical level, temperature fluctuations in the room for measuring customer parts were reduced to an absolute minimum, and optimum climatic and acoustic conditions were established throughout the entire building. Over 100 contractors were involved in the execution of this project, to which the client held the highest expectations. As general planner under a design-build contract mandate, IE Technology ensured a smooth process: with tight project management, careful coordination and collaborative partnership.
