Challenges & Solutions
Shared factory premises
Inefficient processes
Established structures as an obstacle to new products
The Project in Detail
ITo remain competitive as a manufacturer of technologically advanced, armoured special vehicles, the operating processes at the Kreuzlingen site had to become more efficient. IE Technology took on the general planning the new-build project “Plant 2000" for a new assembly plant and the construction planning for a multi-storey office building. In addition, logistics processes were streamlined through process-oriented operations planning, and existing industrial halls were converted to sustainably reduce operating costs.
The Challenge
Over 50 years, the site grew into a factory campus split by a busy road into a northern and southern area. Production buildings and industrial halls on both sides led to increasingly complex, confusing and inefficient operational and logistics processes. At the same time, new products required faster order processing and optimised production workflows.
Key Success Factors
A phased approach was key. Before construction started, workshops mapped all weak points related to the site and operational processes. Based on this, IE developed a binding master plan that ensured implementation while operations continued – with schedule and cost guarantees.
Consistent planning and execution of the holistic concept significantly streamlined operating processes, improved workplace quality, and reduced total usable space requirements by 30%.
