My journey: combining precision with uncertainty
Natural sciences, technology, and business administration have always been part of my professional path. Whether in the lab or in production, analytical thinking remains the foundation of my work. Over time, another requirement became just as important – not only recognising complex interdependencies, but also structuring them and understanding them systemically to enable robust decisions and feasible solutions.
Throughout my career, very different worlds repeatedly came together: strictly regulated processes and clear procedures on the one hand, and dynamic teams and personalities on the other. It reinforced my belief that good processes matter – but they only work when people understand them and can apply them in everyday practice. Because many companies are at different stages of development, it is essential to build on what already exists – while keeping the long-term goal as a clear reference point.
At IE, I was able to connect my previous experience with another world: construction and planning. I learned a great deal from colleagues, deepened that knowledge through targeted training, and discovered that iterative development is even more pronounced here – with more variables and dependencies. Methodology is therefore critical, and the tensions are clear: cost and benefit, compliance and efficiency, speed and quality. The key is to reconcile these different perspectives and develop solutions that are not only planable, but also workable in day-to-day operations.
Helping shape IE as a co-entrepreneur and Managing Director is a great privilege. It highlights what is possible when everyone in the team sees themselves as an “engine”. Turning that energy into clear outcomes is challenging – and exactly where IE excels. One of our strengths is transforming complex structures that have evolved over time into systems that are simple and clear, yet still flexible.
My Vision for 2040
IE Life Science is recognised across Switzerland as the go-to partner for process-driven and flexible production environments in the life science industry. We are evolving from an insider tip into an established name – while staying true to our standards: expertise, quality, and partnership on equal terms, including acting as a sparring partner when it matters.
