Percy Limacher
I am a qualified plastics engineer (NDS FH) with an EMBA in Strategic Management. After studying mechanical engineering in the early 1990s, I specialised in plastics technology and have continuously expanded my expertise – particularly in cleanroom planning, cleanroom technology, and management. My career combines technical depth, entrepreneurial thinking, and many years of hands-on experience in the execution of industrial projects.

Brief Profile: Expertise at a Glance
I work closely with clients and maintain strong links to the plastics processing industry. For many years, I have supported companies in the planning and execution of their production sites. My goal is to reduce complexity, make interdependencies easy to understand, and develop solutions that perform sustainably in day-to-day operations.
Industry Focus
My focus covers the full range of plastics processing technologies – particularly injection moulding, extrusion, thermoforming, and specialised processes. I place a strong emphasis on medical technology, where the highest requirements for processes, cleanroom technology, and quality meet short time-to-market cycles. Regionally, I focus on German-speaking Switzerland.
Role at IE Group
I have been Managing Director of IE Plast since 1998. I have been a member of the Executive Board of IE Industrial Engineering Zurich AG since 2001 and a member of the Group Management of IE Engineering Group AG since 2020.
Technical Expertise
I support companies on strategic production topics, operating and intralogistics concepts, as well as technical strategy development and master planning. In addition, I take overall project leadership for demanding investment projects – from the initial idea to successful execution – particularly in the plastics, mechanical engineering, and medtech industries.
My way
After completing my studies, I took responsibility for sales and new projects in a plastics processing company – from initial customer enquiries through to series-production readiness. This period shaped my understanding of how closely technology, market needs, and profitability are connected.
At Zühlke Engineering, I then developed plastic product applications for the food, sanitary, and semiconductor industries. There, I learned to view industrial challenges from multiple perspectives and to think about technical solutions consistently in an application-oriented way.
In March 1998, I joined IE as a young operations planner and was part of the employee buyout from the very beginning – a formative chapter that strongly shaped my entrepreneurial mindset. Shortly afterwards, I took over the management of IE Plast Engineering and became part of the leadership team in Zurich.
Another important milestone followed in 2013 with the strategic decision to establish the IE Plast division in Munich. The German market for plastics processing is around eight times larger than Switzerland’s. Together with the local team, I supported this development for around five years, up to 2018.
Since 2020, I have been a member of the Group Management of IE Engineering Group AG as part of an internal succession plan. My focus has increasingly shifted towards leadership, organisation, strategic development, and business development.
My Vision for 2040
IE Plast is the leading partner for planning and execution of plastics-processing industrial buildings in German-speaking Switzerland. We stand for the highest quality, sustainable solutions, and a compelling price-performance ratio. Every third project is developed together with us – especially where complex logistics, cleanroom technology, and short time-to-market cycles are critical.
